his project began after a trip to
the Sierra Nevada's in October of 2003. My brother Tim called and offered me a
chance to accompany him, all expenses paid, to a private fly fishing ranch east of Mammoth
Lakes, California. Tim is a serious fly fisherman, I am not. I only came along
for the "ride", time with my brother, and the opportunity to see some beautiful
scenery.
While browsing through magazines in the cabin we were staying at, I happened on an article
in the "Mammoth Monthly" titled... "Mark Twain On Mono Lake." |
|
it was an excerpt from Twain's book "Roughing
It", written 132 years ago. After reading the article, I knew that this Mono
Lake was a place I had to visit. Thankfully, Tim was willing to oblige. We spent a
good deal of time there, and I was struck by how hauntingly beautiful this place really
is. A vast inland ocean that everyone should spend time seeing. |
